Silverfish

Silverfish are long flattened insects with a silvery colouration. They have 3 long bristles on rear and can grow up to one inch in length. Silverfish live in cool damp places including kitchens, bathrooms and laundries and eat almost anything, from books and paper, to wallpaper and clothing. Silverfish can survive in any environment but flourish in areas with high humidity. Silverfish are nocturnal and are very quick moving so its not uncommon for a silverfish invasion to go unnoticed for a long period of time.

To avoid a silverfish infestation, keep your home tidy. Avoid storing unnecessary papers and books on the floor. Ideally store clothes in sealed plastic bags throughout the summer months or at least make sure your clothes are laundered and stored in a plastic lined drawer.
